Second Rumana Agrotourism Season returns to Al Jabal Al Akhdar

Muscat: The second edition of Rumana event kicked off in Al Jabal Al Akhdar Governorate on July 5, 2024, marking the beginning of a series of innovative agro-tourism projects in the governorate. The event aims to promote eco-friendly agro-tourism, offer unique experiences to attract tourists and promote local content.

The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and was attended by several dignitaries and officials from various entities. The groundbreaking event was organized in partnership between Teepee and the Agro-Tourism Development Company (Janaen), a joint venture between Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group) and Oman Food Investment Holding Company (Nitaj). The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion worked together as strategic partners.

In his speech, Dr. Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, said: “The Sultanate of Oman is endowed with rich and diverse unique natural resources, which will enhance the competitiveness of Oman’s agriculture and tourism industries.” He added: “We are delighted to host the second edition of the event, which will have a significant impact on enhancing tourists’ agro-tourism experience in Al Jabal Al Akhdar and supporting local farmers in selling their diverse products.” During the opening ceremony, Janaen signed a cooperation and investment agreement with Teepee to develop, manage and operate its farm in Al Jabal Al Akhdar. The agreement will promote Janaen’s farm as an agricultural and tourism approach, enhancing the tourist experience throughout the year. It includes workshops for children and young people to impart agricultural knowledge and strengthen their connection with agriculture.

Commenting on the event, Dr. Hashil Obaid al Mahrouqi, CEO of OMRAN Group and Chairman of the Board of Janaen, said: “The second edition of Rummana reflects our ongoing efforts to enrich agrotourism in Oman and create diverse tourism experiences and products. It is also a continuation of the huge success of last year’s event, reflecting Oman’s uniqueness in offering authentic and diverse tourism experiences and helping to strengthen Al Jabal Al Akhdar Governorate’s position as a leading tourism, cultural and agricultural destination in the region.” Al Amajaad Hilal al Mawali, co-founder of Teepee Oman, said: “We are delighted to organize the second season of Rummana.

This year, the event will offer a variety of activities and experiences to suit the needs of all visitors, from individuals to families. The event will include dedicated corners for various activities such as entertainment, pomegranate sales, food and beverages, etc. “Visitors seeking a unique tourist experience can visit Rummana at Janaen Farm in Seeh Qitna Village, Al Jabal Al Akhdar from today until September 28, 2024. The event includes a series of activities such as visiting pomegranate fields, experiencing fruit picking, and learning about the details of its cultivation. In addition to other corners included in the event, such as the entertainment corner, there is also a souvenir market centered on pomegranates and various mountain fruits.
