Dr. Kongsak, Director General of the State Taxation Administration, revealed the progress of the Asian Indoor after the Olympic Council of Asia is about to withdraw the hosting rights from Thailand.
Thailand may be banned from sending athletes to world-class competitions if the Olympic Confederation of Asia (OCA) is prepared to cancel Thailand’s hosting of the 6th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games on July 23, 2024. After all, countries lack confidence in Thailand and must be responsible for all losses if the cancellation is announced.
Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Director General of the Sports Authority of Thailand, was interviewed by the media. The progress of the preparations for the Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games is currently awaiting the Ministry’s consideration of various budgetary matters. It will be submitted to the Competition Organizing Committee meeting. The Minister will be the Chairman
Initially, a budget of 1.7 billion was drawn up and handed over to the department responsible for planning and budgeting. The budget was appropriately cut to around 1.3 billion, but the actual budget that can be used is about 1.1 billion. This way everything can move forward.
The minister’s team is considering this. Now we know how many athletes there are. This allows the budget to be properly prepared. There may be further cuts. But the delay is due to various details being considered. The minister is considering this as soon as possible.
As for the Olympic Council of Asia, the previous cancellation order was scheduled for July 16. We have talked to the Olympic Council of Asia and we will hold a meeting of the organizing committee of the competition on the 11th, but due to various factors, we are not ready yet, so the minister requested to postpone the meeting temporarily.
The regulatory issues regarding the use of funds are another frustrating issue. Long management cycles and legal restrictions
As for the government, we intend to do our best to prepare. What are the pros and cons of cancelling? What will be the impact? This is considered part of the policy. Sports must continue to be ready to play. At the moment we can only prepare.
