SaS chairman Branislav Gröhling said that the expertise of the current government is at the same level as that of Igor Matovič. “When we have a budget of 5000 euros for police officers to serve for 23 years in order to receive an allowance, it means that their monthly salary will increase by about 20 euros. The most ridiculous thing about the whole proposal is that only a selected group of police officers will receive an allowance. Those who have just joined or those who are about to retire. Everyone who has served from 1 to 19 years is not entitled to anything,” explained Gröhling, adding that the alliance threatens Slovakia’s security. According to him, the police force is threatened with a serious weakening, because police officers will not agree to the proposal for the contribution and will start leaving.

Juraj Krúpa, a member of the Slovak National People’s Republic SaS, added that Interior Minister Šutaj Eštok is unable to solve the problems of the police department, which has begun to collapse under his control. “Instead of a conceptual proposal for a gradual increase in salaries and improvement in the social conditions of police officers and judicial guards, he made a proposal that is very reminiscent of Matović’s nuclear proposal from November 2022. At that time, he proposed a one-time allowance of 5,000 euros for health workers,” said Krúpa. In fact, the coalition is trying to cover up its incompetence with arrogance, threats and spreading delusions. Krúpa said it was noteworthy that the police chief did not even attend the press conference where the proposal was presented.
