Prime Minister Hun Manet assured that the CLV triangular cooperation will not lead to the loss of Cambodian territory or national sovereignty. This assurance was made when the President presided over a social gathering and dinner organized by the Cambodia Duke Association and the Cambodia Housing Developers Association on the evening of August 2, 2024.

Prince Mani said the development of the CLV triangle between Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam is to promote economic growth in border provinces, and the triangle will not lose our territory or national sovereignty.

Prime Minister Hun Manet added: “This is a guarantee. Why do I have to guarantee it? It is the future of my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I studied abroad for many years. My parents strictly prohibited me from obtaining foreign nationality. I had to return to Cambodia. I have no plan to take my children abroad, so my children and grandchildren will continue to live in a more prosperous Cambodia. Moreover, I will not leave the reputation of losing the four provinces to any country, and the same is true for Samdech Techo. The officials who negotiated the content of the agreement will not allow the loss of national interests. This is my guarantee.”

Chairman Hun Manet said that on the topic of cooperation in the triangle region, Prince Hun Sen and officials have explained it, and Prince Hun Sen did not make further comments. At the same time, the prince observed that opponents of the triangle development plan are divided into three categories: insiders who spread false information and groups that cause political turmoil. These two groups account for about 0.2% of the opposition group and 99 people, 8% of whom are real concerns. Samdech Dhipdey said that Samdech supports the spirit of expressing love and caring about national affairs, but please understand from all angles and do not cause turmoil in the country.

It is noteworthy that the Cambodia Border Development Triangle was established in 1999 and initiated by former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen as a compass to guide the transformation of the border area into a development coordination zone. The people and peoples of the three countries are walking together on the path of peace, peace and prosperity. The development triangle of the three countries consists of 13 provinces, 5 provinces in Vietnam, 4 provinces in Laos, and 4 provinces in the Kingdom of Cambodia: Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, Kratie and Stung Treng. The development triangle of the three countries is an area with great potential for natural resources and biodiversity. The Development Triangle (CLV) plays a strategic role as a catalyst for change, connecting our region with vibrant economic centers, attracting investments, and supporting production networks and supply chains in the greater sub-region.
