Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Member of Parliament for Salima North West Constituency Enock Phale will present K5 million football and netball trophies at the Kanjuwi grounds in Khombedza, Traditional Authority, on Sunday, July 28.
In an interview Thursday, Farrar said the purpose of the contest is to encourage young people in his district to showcase their talents, explore opportunities and prevent them from engaging in bad behavior in the community.
“As part of the promotion of sports in my constituency, my vision is to contribute to the socio-economic development and cultural promotion of the people through thriving sports among the youths, hence the awarding of the K5 million Ipite trophy,” said Farrar.
The Secretary General of the Salima District Football Association, Adams Kuba Phiri, commended the MP and said the league was very important as it would greatly help in promoting football and netball at the grassroots level in the constituency and Salima District.
Ministers, MPs, ward councillors, traditional leaders and various political party officials and sports administrators are expected to attend the launch ceremony which will be followed by a development rally at the same venue.
