Sakara will defend his Scotiabank Junior Monarch Calypso crown, while a new Junior Soka monarch will be crowned next week.

The contestants drew lots to determine the 16 finalist spots during a final draw ceremony held at Scotiabank’s Broad Street branch in Bridgetown on Wednesday.

Calypso player N’Kyla sang the first number, which she will perform on stage at the National Botanical Gardens Waterford Station in St Michael on July 20.

Following closely behind are Hailstorm, Trinity, Potent, the current monarch Sakarah, King K, Khalessi and Bit Bit. Sabiah is the alternate.

During Sunday night’s semifinal, former King Tai announced she would no longer compete.

However, during the draw, the remaining contestants withdrew their numbers.

John Boss took first place. He was followed by Leilani, Ranesha, Kari, Zarie B, Mr Showman, Jayden Inniss and Lil Stathis. Joshua B was the alternate. (TG)
