Maud Jayet came away empty-handed from the medal race at the ILCA 6th level Olympic competition. The Vaud team finished seventh in the final medal race and could not improve further. Jayet, who finished fourth, missed out on Switzerland’s first Olympic sailing medal in 56 years, but got a diploma. They were 15 points behind the podium.
Marit Bouwmeester of the Netherlands was declared the Olympic champion before the final. Anne-Marie Rindom, the Danish world champion and Tokyo Olympic champion, won the silver medal. Line Flem Höst won the bronze medal, finishing second and successfully defending her third place. Before the medal race, Jayet was only five points behind the Norwegian, and if the points were counted twice, he would be three places ahead of Flem Höst.
