Swimmer Issa in good form
Omani swimmer Issa Al Adavi will compete in the 100m freestyle at the Arena de La Défense in Paris on Tuesday. The 22-year-old will compete against top swimmers such as Yusuf Abu Bakr of Libya, Nixon Erdez of Estonia and Kolios Salibko of Tanzania in the second round of preliminaries. The competition will feature 16 swimmers in 10 heats. The top-ranked swimmers will advance to the semifinals, which will be held on the same evening, and the final on Thursday.
Al Adavi hopes to achieve better results in this Olympics than in the last Tokyo Olympics. In the third group preliminaries of the Tokyo Olympics, he finished sixth with a time of 51.81 seconds.
“I have been training intensively for three years before the Olympics. I will do a fast sprint in the first 25 metres and follow the coach’s instructions to divide the 100m freestyle into four parts,” Issa said before Tuesday’s competition.
Coach Amer Bin Rokia said Issa will aim to improve and achieve good results in his second Olympic Games. “He is in better physical and technical condition now than when he last competed in the Olympics. This shows that he has made significant progress since the last Olympics. This preparation is aimed at allowing him to set new personal records and record-breaking results,” said the Tunisian coach.
