A Russian Tu-22M3 bomber crashed in the Irkutsk region.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the missile carrier crashed due to a technical malfunction during its scheduled flight. It caught fire in the air. The crew ejected successfully and survived.

This is not the first Tu-22M3 to crash this year. In April, a plane crashed in the Stavropol Territory. Then in Ukraine, they said that the bomber was shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces with the assistance of intelligence.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia will have 27 serviceable Tu-22s remaining by the end of 2023. The aircraft costs nearly $300 million.
