RTL Today – Professional Guidance: Rocklab to host first Eurovision Songwriting Camp

This summer, Rocklab will host a three-day Eurovision Song Writing Camp, transforming into a vibrant hub for songwriters, offering unique opportunities for creative collaboration and professional growth.

Rocklab is the educational arm of Rockhal and this summer it will be conducting a three-day Eurovision Songwriting CampThe event, which takes place at Rocklab Studio from 27 to 30 September, is a great opportunity for international and local songwriters, vocalists and producers to collaborate on songs for next year’s Luxembourg Song Contest and the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

Participants will work in small groups to create new songs every day while receiving guidance from experienced professionals. Briefing sessions will be held every morning to inspire and provide valuable knowledge and resources to promote career development. The camp also provides participants with unique networking opportunities.

The event is supported by the Luxembourg Arts Council and Sacem Luxembourg, in partnership with FLAC and Club Grund Luxembourg, and aims to showcase the best musical talents in the Grand Duchy.

Professional guidance

The camp’s instructors are Greig Watts and Imad Eljattari, who will guide the course alongside a group of international producers, songwriters and top singers.

Watts is a member of the UK writing, producing and publishing group DWB, and has run a number of successful songwriting bootcamps. He has been involved in no fewer than 14 Eurovision Song Contests for nine consecutive years and was Music Advisor for the 2019 BBC Eurovision Song Contest.

Imad Eljattari is also known for organizing international songwriting camps and conferences. His extensive experience as a songwriter and publisher has brought him great success in national finals in Europe and Asia. Notably, Eljattari was the driving force behind the song Devil in the Detail, which was performed by the Luxembourgish band One Last Time at last year’s Luxembourg Song Contest.

How to participate

Interested participants can fill out Application Form Provided by Rocklab. Candidates will be screened based on the quality and potential of their past work, letters of recommendation, and experience in the field of songwriting. Professional background as a songwriter, producer or performer will also be considered.

The camp ticket price is 300 EUR (songwriting camp ticket), 700 EUR (including hotel accommodation). All participants can enjoy free tea, lunch and dinner every day.
