An illegal rave near Upper Sur Lake on Saturday night sparked outrage among locals and was dispersed by police on Sunday afternoon. The rave took place at the Bauschelter Bierg near Bavigne and lasted all night.

Police began dispersing the remaining crowd around 2 p.m. on Sunday and cleared the scene by 4 p.m.

According to a police spokesman, there were still about 80 people gathered when police intervened, but the dispersal process was carried out peacefully.

The incident came to the attention of authorities on Saturday night following several noise complaints from local residents. Police initially did not intervene for safety reasons. On Sunday morning, they hoped the crowd would disperse on its own. However, when that did not happen, police decided to take action.

The mayor of Haut-Sul-Lac, Marco Koeune, confirmed that no permit had been granted for the event and condemned the organization of the illegal rave.

Luxembourg police also confirmed they had received reports from Belgian authorities about the rally, which attracted around 300 people, mainly from Belgium and the Netherlands.

The IA video, sent to RTL at around 3:30am on Sunday, captures the loud bass at the rave party, which was recorded a few kilometres away in Lifrange.
