Everything is possible in Blixenburg. In Luxembourg, this is the meeting place for those who are obsessed with Lego.
Gilbert Franzetti has known LEGO since childhood, but a few years ago he rediscovered his former passion in a LEGO store in Hamburg: “For me as a computer scientist, it’s great because I have something in my hands that someone can implement and someone can show it to.”
He is also the club’s chairman. Ai Fu. It has been around for 12 years and is an approved LEGO club where you can build together. “Our club is based in Malte and we meet once a month and build. We also hold events like workshops.” The good thing is that not everyone has to buy Lego, it is provided by the club. This saves money and space. As a passionate Lego builder, you need a lot of space.
Ulrike Gebhardt has been building since the 1950s. First she built with her children, now with her grandchildren. She is passionate about recreating famous monuments. ”I have built Chinese temples or the Brandenburg Gate and various bridges. ” Even the city of Venice or the Piazza Roma in Frankfurt are part of their repertoire. She builds without guidance, and when Ulrike Gebhardt exhibits a piece, she takes it apart after the exhibition. So that she can show something new at the following year’s exhibition. There is also a very sustainable mentality here, she uses the same stones over and over again. “You can use it over and over again.”
They are now in Blixenburg for the third time and this year built a new building in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt.
The Blixenburg is now on display for the fifth time. The aim of the exhibition and the club is to make Lego and Kremberg more familiar to people. “While the brand is certainly well-known, we hope to bring more children and adults to the brand so they can play and maybe in the future they can also exhibit with us””, explains Alain Silverio of asbl in Blixenburg.
This year too, 25 exhibitors came to Jonglünster. Some have been around for a long time, while others have only recently rediscovered their passion for LEGO. Perhaps one of them was inspired to take up a new hobby in Blixenburg and spend a weekend at the cultural center Jonglünster, all about LEGO.
