July 23, 2024 (Port Sudan) – The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Tuesday continued its offensive by capturing a military camp in Abu Arif area of Sennar State and advancing towards White Nile State.
The occupied camp belongs to the 66th Infantry Brigade and is located in a strategic location near the South Sudan border and the city of Jabaleen.
RSF supporters shared videos of the takeover on social media amid reports of military casualties. This was the first RSF operation in Sennar state after the death of its regional commander and the appointment of a successor.
In another incident, rapid security forces attacked the village of Al-Halba in White Nile State and stormed the village market in an apparent attempt to enter the strategic city of Al-Duwaym on the White Nile.
The RSF’s recent gains build on a June offensive that enabled them to capture much of Sennar state, including the capital, Singa, and several strategic locations. Currently, Sudanese forces control only the city of Sennar.
