Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. today announced he was dropping out of the White House race and endorsing Republican Donald Trump, accusing the Democratic Party of having become the party of censorship and eternal war.
“I pledged that if I became an obstacle, I would withdraw from the race,” said the former Democrat and nephew of President John F. Kennedy. “I no longer believe I have a path to victory,” he stressed.
The candidate explained that he would withdraw his name from only ten key states, including Pennsylvania and Arizona, to avoid benefiting Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
In other states, voters can still vote for him even though the campaign is now over.
He said: “Our polls show that if I stay in the key states, I will hand the election to the Democrats because I disagree with them on the most existential issues.” Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.) left the Democratic Party in October 2023 and joined the Democratic Party as an independent.
He said he now works closely with Donald Trump, having previously been a “fierce critic” of Trump. Kennedy and Trump began talks in July after Republicans attempted to assassinate Kennedy, and there is a possibility that Kennedy could play a role in a future Trump administration.
He said areas where they agreed included free speech, the war in Ukraine, border security and child protection. Kamala Harris’ campaign declined to have a similar conversation with the candidate.
Kennedy Jr. accused the Democrats of wanting to start a war in Ukraine to strengthen the military-industrial complex, and that only Donald Trump could end the war because he would reopen negotiations with Vladimir Putin.
The Independent also said he hopes to save the “millions of children” who suffer from chronic diseases due to “corruption” in government agencies, and that in Trump’s future administration, he will fill this gap with doctors who are not dependent on big pharmaceutical companies.
He promised: “We will bring healthy food back to school lunches” and said they will end subsidies for harmful foods.
Kennedy Jr. accused Kamala Harris of not wanting to end this problem, the chronic disease crisis, which is one of the reasons why he supports Trump.
“This decision is painful for me,” he said, considering that joining Trump’s campaign would be a difficult sacrifice for his wife and children.
“Let’s make Americans healthy again,” he said. “If President Trump is elected and keeps his promises, the chronic disease problem will go away.”
Kennedy’s family has denounced his campaign and criticized conspiracy theories he has defended, such as those about vaccines, putting the family’s influence behind Democratic support.
