Rescuers have found the body of a young man who went missing two weeks ago in the Mtkavari River in the city of Gori.

Giorgi Janezashvili, 33, disappeared from a river near the village of Kvakhvreli on July 13. Villagers and relatives believe that Janezashvili drowned when he entered the river.

The search and rescue operation has been ongoing for nearly two weeks after the young man went missing.

The Interior Ministry’s Emergency Management Department told Interpress News that fire and rescue personnel are conducting intensive search and rescue operations using all necessary techniques and equipment while monitoring both fires, including the surface and bottom of the river and the perimeter of the coastline.

Rescuers found the body in the river near the village of Metekhi in the city of Kaspi.
