On the other hand, at the congress, the UEFA Disciplinary Committee’s decision to suspend national football player Merih Demiral for two matches for making the “Grey Wolf” gesture during the match against Austria in the last 16 of the 2024 European Championship was on the agenda.
Bahadur Altenkaser, deputy chairman of the Nationalist Movement Group in the Izmir City Council, suggested erecting a statue of the national football player in Izmir. The proposal was unanimously accepted and sent to the relevant committee.
No statue decision
“The proposal by MHP Group Vice Chairman Bahadir Altenkaiser to erect a statue for football player Melih Demiral, who made the ‘Gray Wolf Logo’, has been sent to the relevant committee in accordance with the procedure. The statue of national football player Melih Demiral has been brought to Izmir,” said Altan Inanci, deputy chairman of the Izmir Metropolitan Council. “The parliament has not yet made a decision to erect the statue, and the news in this regard does not reflect the facts.”
