The Union of Registration and Notary Workers (STRN) warned on Monday that registry offices were “once again” experiencing “serious IT constraints”.
“The registry is facing severe IT limitations, namely the inability to access email mailboxes, extremely slow computer applications supporting records, and various entropies leading to despair in the registry and the registry officials working there. Jobs,” STRN said in a statement.
According to the union, this situation is compounded by the “computer parks in the registries that are more than 20 years old” and the lack of more than 34% of the necessary staff (242 registries and 1,691 registration officials), which creates “huge and severe internal and external constraints that undermine several essential public services for citizens and businesses”.
Similarly, the president of STRN, Arménio Maximino, considers it incomprehensible that, despite the fact that the Registry and Notary Institute (IRN) generates more than 600 million euros in revenue each year, the sector “has completely hit rock bottom and citizens are unable to obtain basic public services in a timely manner”.
STRN believes that the current government must take “measures to address this issue to ensure that IRN provides basic public services to all citizens”.
Arménio Maximino considers that the creation of the Institute of Financial Management and Judicial Equipment (IGFEJ), resulting from the demise of the Institute of Judicial Information Technologies and the Institute of Judicial Financial Management and Infrastructure, is “a huge mistake that has been proven over the years and urgently needs to be corrected.”
“IGFEJ has never responded promptly to the IT limitations they face, both in terms of IT applications that support records and the equipment used in the registry, which is why it is necessary for IRN to have a properly trained IT department able to adequately respond to such failures, rather than relying on the inertia or goodwill of IGFEJ”, the union leader criticized.
