In her welcome speech, the Chairperson of the CPSRE, Ms. Gakou Salamata Fofana, stressed that this day is the culmination of a great deal of collective work done by the members of the CPSR since 2019. It is also a great opportunity for the members of the Committee and the participants to deeply engage in the reforms initiated by the authorities. We have noticed over the years that the authorities of our country are seeking to carry out necessary reforms for the well-being of the Malians. There is still a long way to go to achieve the goals and only by working together can we meet the challenges. She said that the purpose of this day is to allow for exchanges and communication among the participants in order to better understand the goals of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the reforms carried out by the authorities since the adoption of the new Constitution in July 2023. According to her, the Reform Advocacy and Monitoring Committee is a body that allocates, contributes and promotes all the reforms initiated by the authorities. She was followed by the Ministerial Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of Political and Institutional Reforms, Ms. Fatoumata Skou Dicko, who expressed her delight at the day organized by the Committee. In fact, your organization, composed of political parties and civil society organizations, is an important relay for the allocation and dissemination of the numerous reforms adopted, ongoing and under consideration by the transitional authorities. She said that the Constitution of 22 July 2023, in article 40, gave constitutional status to civil society organizations, along with political parties, and that your contribution to the political, institutional and administrative governance of the country is recognized. She said that the numerous reforms that the transitional authorities have implemented and are in progress are opportunities for the Commission to act. I encourage you to take advantage of the reforms that have been implemented specifically for the Malians; to go beyond the legitimate pursuit of the electoral governance system and to be more interested in the content of governance and other changes, such as security, justice, economy, administration through digitalization, etc. This is the view of the Transitional President, Head of State, Assimi Gouta, who, as a compass of governance, safeguards the interests of the people of Mali, a resolute emerging State, fully sovereign and peaceful, by achieving structural reforms to guarantee more social justice. “I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate the transitional authorities’ firm support for the constitutional order and the holding of general elections,” she concluded. On the same day, Ms. Gakou Salamata Fofana hosted a press conference, at which she stated that one of the Commission’s objectives is to widely publicize the various reforms taken by the authorities to better allocate funds at the level of regional institutions, local political parties and civil society.
