Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that Turkey will implement its own “Steel Dome” air defense system project.
– We want to realize the Steel Dome project and all its components. If Israel has the Iron Dome, then we will also have the Steel Dome, Erdogan said in a speech at the Air Force Academy graduation ceremony.
Erdogan particularly highlighted Türkiye’s progress in the field of drone production.
– He said that the momentum we have achieved in the field of drones is envied not only by our friendly and brotherly countries, but also by the whole world.
He also reiterated Ankara’s commitment to further strengthening its military capabilities.
– We are committed to producing, developing or procuring everything our Air Force needs, from missiles to air defense systems, Erdogan said.
He stressed that Turkiye is particularly committed to the production of the defense industry.
– The Turkish President said that events in our region remind us of the importance of measures taken in the field of defense industry over the past 22 years, Anadolu Agency reported.
