Muscat: The value of real estate transactions in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 1.3% to SR1.237 billion by the end of May 2024, compared to SR1.2206 billion in the same period of 2023, according to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
According to preliminary statistics released by the NCSI, legal transaction fees collected amounted to 27.2 million riyals by the end of May 2024, a decrease of 5.7% compared to the same period in 2023.
The value of sales contracts fell by 2.3% to 457.2 million riyals by the end of May 2024, while the number of sales contracts increased by 0.7% to 28,023, compared to 27,823 in the same period of 2023.
The value of mortgage contracts rose by 3.5% to 774.5 million riyals as of the end of May 2024, compared to 748.4 million riyals in the same period of 2023. Meanwhile, the number of mortgage contracts fell by 15% to 8,596 from 10,110 in the same period of 2023.
The transaction value of barter contracts increased by 24.5% to 5.2 million riyals by the end of May 2024, compared to 4.2 million riyals in the same period of 2023. The number of barter contracts decreased by 6% to 583 by the end of May 2024, compared to 620 in May 2023.
The number of properties issued fell by 5.7% to 94,194 units by the end of May 2024, while the number of properties issued to citizens of the GCC countries increased by 2.3% to 528 units from 516 units at the end of May 2023.
