Reactions to the death of his deputy: Prime Minister Frieden: “Max Hengel was a representative of the people in the best sense of the word”

The CSV member and mayor of Vermeer died at the age of 47 after a long illness.

“This is very sad news for all of us, a huge loss for politics and a huge loss for CSV.”” said Prime Minister Luc Frieden in the initial reaction to the death of his party colleague RTL.

It was always great to work with Max Hengel, especially during the campaign when they travelled together in the East. “He knew everybody, he was friendly to everybody, and I think that’s what I’ll always remember about Max.”” said Luc Frieden.

Even if you knew that the East MP had cancer, you would always have hope that things would get better. ‘It’s his turn’” said the CSV chairman. Max Hengel has been fighting and will be remembered as a fighter.

Mark Spaatz said that just last week he had attended the round table at the Olympic Games in his capacity as chairman of the Health Committee. His party colleagues will never regret it and he always wanted to do his best. Max Hengel will remain in everyone’s best memory and, above all, as a person who never wanted to be the center of attention.
