Law graduate Racheal Angelica ‘o Manakakapu Guttenbeil, 26, was crowned Miss Heilala 2024 tonight in Heilala Village, Nuku’alofa.
As Miss Hailala, she will win $10,000 in pa’anga, two Fiji Airways tickets to the United States, and other prizes. She will also represent Tonga at the next Miss Pacific Islands pageant.
Sponsored by AGT and Maa’imoa Catering, Racheal won the award after excelling in several categories including sarong costume and tau’olunga dance. She also received more than 9,700 likes on the Heilala Festival Facebook page, earning her the title of “Miss Popularity”.
Born and raised in Vava’u, with connections to Haapai and Germany, Racheal is a multi-talented person. She graduated from the University of the South Pacific in Fiji in April with a degree in business in law and human resource management. She also holds a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice and is awaiting her Bar exam. While studying in Fiji, Racheal became a well-known fashion model, participating in events such as Fiji Fashion Week and Wearing Fiji.
Contestants from Vava’u took the top three spots in the pageant. The first runner-up was ‘Akosita Fa’alangi ‘Ofa ki Vava’u Guttenbeil, followed by Sophron Kosmios ‘Unaloto ki he Melino Latu and the third place went to Mele Maa’imoa he Lotukalafi Finau. The Minister of Tourism, Hon. Viliami Latu, presented the awards to the winners.
The evening was filled with joy and celebration, especially for Vava’u supporters as the top three contestants were all from their region. Outgoing Miss Hailala, Sitita Hamilton Vaenuku, crowned her successor, Miss Hailala 2024-2025.
