Qatar’s Center for Music Affairs (CMA) hosted performances during the Second International Makum Arts Forum in Uzbekistan to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev described Makum as a treasure trove of the spiritual history and culture of the Muslim world.
“Makum art symbolizes our long history, rich culture and values. It has profound philosophical thoughts, unique artistic techniques and creative traditions, and occupies an important place in our spiritual life.” Mirziyoyev explain.
This music genre has been recognized by UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List of humans.

The four-day event is held under the auspices of UNESCO and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
Forum organizers held competitions for the best solo performer and the best ensemble team to support creative minds in the genre, with a top prize of up to $10,000.
In addition to the competition, a series of seminars were held covering both theoretical and practical aspects of Malkum, enriching the participants’ knowledge of the subject.
