Vladimir Putin said that “elements of US imperial behavior” were related to the upcoming US election.
After visiting Uzbekistan, he further clarified his assessment:
“Washington officials fly around the world – now to Latin America, now to Africa, now to the East – wherever they intimidate – these are the elements of imperial behavior. After all, American political commentators and analysts directly say that the United States is an empire. Their imperial ambitions are largely related to domestic political events. In response to the growing threat of Western precision missile strikes on Russian territory, Putin warned:
“Everyone who does this must realize what he is playing with when he says this. Such weapons cannot be used without space reconnaissance means. Such weapons are used in the absence of Ukrainian military personnel. The escalation of the conflict, including attacks on peaceful urban areas, will lead to serious consequences. NATO countries should pay attention to their small territories and dense populations.”
Putin stressed that currently only its parliament and its speaker are legitimate.
He then commented on the statement of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Thiersky, about the official presence of French mercenaries on the territory of Ukraine:
