A video that went viral on social media showed a man selling second-hand wreaths at the Nausori market, attracting widespread public attention.

People have become concerned after discovering items such as mats, paste and wreaths used to decorate the graves of their loved ones were missing days after burial.

The Fiji Correctional Services (FCS) is responsible for managing cemeteries and maintaining grave sites across Fiji.

The cemeteries include Suva, Nasinu, Vatuwaka, Lautoka, Levuka and Labasa.

“We have set up a security fence around the cemetery,” said Auta Moceisuva, deputy commissioner of FCS.

Questions received by police remain unanswered.
