Concerned about the so-called “overly secretive handling of the missing plane issue,” some private citizens in the country launched an investigation into the cause of the accident in the name of “concerned citizens.”

The Concerned Citizens, led by Edwards Kambanje, Oliver Nakoma and Osman Dagia, in a statement issued today, said Malawians still have many unanswered questions about the way the entire Malawian government machinery has handled the entire situation.
The group also questioned why it took President Lazarus Chakwera nearly 12 hours to inform the public of the plane’s disappearance and why the search and rescue operation only began that evening after the plane went missing at around 10am.
Concerned Citizens said: “The secrecy with which the issue of the missing plane has been handled has only heightened speculation as to whether this was an accident or a premeditated action.”
In response to the suspicion of murder, the organization has launched an investigation into the tragedy and advises all Malawians who know the truth about the incident to provide the truth.
“What this means is that, as concerned citizens, we have launched an investigation and will release our report to the public in due course. We also want to assure all citizens who have provided us with information that their identities will be protected and that they can contact us at the numbers listed below,” the statement read.
Concerned Citizens also called on the U.S. government to step in and provide expertise and lead an independent investigation, saying it has advanced technology and means to reveal what happened on this tragic day.
The group also assured the people of Malawians that the truth about what led to the plane crash and the death of Vice President Chilima and eight others would soon be revealed.
