Princeton Community Pride Picnic Friday, May 31, 2024

The Fourth Princeton Community Pride Picnic Will Friday, May 314:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Hinds Plaza, 65 Witherspoon Street, outside the Princeton Public Library.

The event marks the start of Princeton Pride Month and is designed to be a fun, welcoming, and safe space for participants of all ages. In the event of rain, the picnic will be moved to the library.

Mimi Omisinski, owner of Princeton Tourism and gold sponsor of the event, expressed her enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to support the Princeton Community Pride Picnic. We love how our library brings the town together to shine a light on and celebrate our LGBTQIA+ neighbors. This event embodies the spirit of diversity and inclusion, and we are honored to be a part of the celebration.”

This family-friendly event will feature a variety of entertainment and activities. Highlights include performances by Princeton Rock and Drag School, music by DJ Dana K of WPRB 103.3 FM, art-making, interactive art projects, Makers and Zine Alley, games, giveaways and more. Following the picnic, the Princeton Arts Council will host a Pride Dance beginning at 7:30 p.m.

VIPs, including Princeton Mayor Mark Freda and other local dignitaries, will be at the event to celebrate the occasion, and more than a dozen nonprofits in the area will set up information booths, giving attendees a chance to learn about their programs and engage with the local community.

The Princeton Community Pride Picnic Committee, led by Janie Hermann of the Princeton Public Library, partnered with several organizations including the McCarter Theater Center, the City of Princeton, HiTOPS and dedicated community volunteers to organize this special event.

Princeton Community Pride Picnic: 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Hinds Plaza, 65 Witherspoon St.
Princeton Arts Council Pride Ball: 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., 102 Witherspoon St.
