Britain’s Princess Beatrice has been named the best dressed British person of 2024.
The 35-year-old actress topped Tatler’s best-dressed list despite sparking countless memes after she wore a strange fawn-coloured hat to the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Tatler magazine praised Beatrice for “combining vintage-inspired tailoring with new catwalk glamour” and being “the epitome of sartorial elegance”, although it did note that she was “the butt of jokes” for wearing a Philip Treacy hat.
Both Beatrice and her sister Princess Eugenie were reportedly reduced to tears by articles criticising the hats they wore to their weddings.
The list also includes Victoria Starmer, wife of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who comes in at number 10.
Tatler magazine described her style as “simple yet chic” and praised her for “championing local brands such as Edeline Lee”.
British fashion designer Jade Holland Cooper came in second, with Tatler praising her own label’s “seductive tweed silhouettes” and her “stunning appearance” in Dolce and Gabbana.
The highest-ranking man on the list was David Beckham’s son Cruz, who came in third, and was praised for “sporting luxe looks that look ultra-cool”, with Tatler magazine describing his looks as “tailored like a rock star”.
In fourth place is Lord William Gordon-Lennox, son of the 11th Duke of Richmond, who Tatler described as having a “fondness for the finest Savile Row garments” that gave him “sartorial bliss”.
Queen Camilla’s sister Annabell Elliott came in fifth for her “dressed up” look in “elegant satin ensembles and velvet suits”.
Fashion designer Anu Hinduja came in sixth, praised for her “wild glamour”, followed by Jack Grealish’s girlfriend Sasha Attwood in seventh, with Tatler calling her style “outstanding”.
Socialite and teacher Lucy Van Straubenzee, who came in at number eight, was a close friend of the Prince and Princess of Wales and whose style was described by Tatler as “a masterclass in elegance”.
England and Chelsea footballer Ben Chilwell came in ninth, praised for his “retro style” with Tatler magazine saying he had “brought fashion back to the beautiful game”.
The full top 25 list is available in the September issue of Tatler, which goes on sale on Thursday 1 August and can be purchased on newsstands or via digital download. — PA Media/dpa
