During the visit, the Prime Minister witnessed first-hand the production of bacon, ham and small goods by Primo Foods and was warmly received by several Solomon Islanders who were on duty at the time.
Solomon Islanders working under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) program in Brisbane were honoured to receive a visit from Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele this week.
The visit to the PALM workers was part of the Prime Minister’s state visit to Australia. The Primo Foods workers were delighted to host the Prime Minister and his delegation.
During the visit, Prime Minister Manele commended the Australian Government for implementing the PALM programme, describing it as a win-win situation for both Australia and Solomon Islands. He stressed that Solomon Islands has benefited greatly from the programme through remittances.
The Prime Minister expressed his deep gratitude to Primo Foods for hosting the people of Solomon Islands on a tour of its factory. Primo Foods Chief Operating Officer Jamie Eastley welcomed the Prime Minister and his delegation and gave them a tour of the factory after a brief welcome and gift presentation.
During the visit, the Prime Minister witnessed the production process of Primo Foods’ bacon, ham and snacks. During the visit, several Solomon Islanders who were on duty also warmly welcomed the Prime Minister.
The visit ended with a tasting of bacon, ham and small goods from Primo Foods. After visiting Brisbane, Prime Minister Manele departed for Canberra where he planned to visit the Australian Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HCL).
