Addis Ababa, July 14, 2024 (Address) Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has extended his best wishes to former US President Donald Trump, who was injured in an assassination attempt.
The prime minister said on his “X” page that he was shocked by the news of the attack.
“I wish him a speedy recovery; and I wish the American people a peaceful and democratic election season,” Prime Minister Abiy wrote.
A gunman shot 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump several times while he was holding a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
The 20-year-old gunman was shot dead on the spot by security forces.
The gunman, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, killed one person and injured several others.
Joe Biden said in a statement that he was “relieved that former President Trump was not seriously injured.”
Leaders, politicians and celebrities have condemned the act.
