The Butaro University of Medicine, located in the Brela district, is one of the top universities in Rwanda, offering the latest knowledge at the level of Harvard University in the United States, with faculty members all coming from American universities.

The University of Butaro Medical School (UGHE) began working in Rwanda in 2015 in partnership with the health organization, Partners in Health (PIH), which was founded by Dr. Paul Farmer, who passed away in 2022.
The university recently awarded diplomas to 54 students from 16 countries who completed their third cycle of university studies, with Dr. Kim attending the event and emphasizing the goal of a world medical university.
