The Broward County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit says a suspect has been arrested in the killing of a Pompano Beach man.
Lawan Jones Jr. is in custody for the murder of his girlfriend’s father, according to reports on Wednesday, August 21. Keith Brian Poole.
At about 4:44 p.m. on Monday, August 19, BSO officers and Pompano Beach Fire and Rescue to the 1500 block of Northeast 28th Street. Paramedics found Poole, who had been shot multiple times, and rushed him to North Broward Health, where he was pronounced dead.
According to witnesses, the shooting occurred after Poole became aware of inappropriate social media posts by Jones. Witnesses said Jones at some point began arguing with Poole and shot him. Jones fled the scene with his girlfriend, Jessie Poole.
After a thorough search, Jones surrendered to the BSO West Park District Office and faces one count of first-degree murder with a firearm. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Broward County Main Jail. Jesse Poole was also located safely.
