These projects are part of Poland’s ISS mission and open up new horizons for Polish space science and technology.
– The use of Polish space experiments is of great significance for the development of domestic space technologies. It is also an opportunity for Polish companies to test their solutions in microgravity conditions, stressed Deputy Minister of Development and Technology Waldemar Sługocki.
The agreement signed by the Minister of Development and Technology with the European Space Agency, which enables Poland to carry out space experiments, is proof that Poland is strengthening its position in the European space programme.
Faster development of Polish space technology
Chairman of the Polish Space Agency, Prof. Grzegorz Wrochna stressed that “conducting experiments in microgravity conditions will increase the competitiveness of Polish research and accelerate the commercialization of Polish space technologies.”
Experiments conducted on board the ISS include studying the effects of space isolation on human mental health, changes in astronauts’ gut microbiome during short-term space missions, understanding the effects of microgravity on the human immune system, and examining advanced data processing units that support the use of artificial BroadCast Unitedligence solutions in space.
These ambitious projects are a major step forward for Polish space science and technology, and their implementation on board the ISS opens up new opportunities for the Polish space sector.
List of experiments that have entered the flight preparation stage
ASTROMENTALHEALTH – This is an experiment to study the effects of spatial isolation on human mental health.
Human Gut Microbiome – Focuses on changes in the gut microbiome of astronauts during short-term (two-week) space missions.
Immuno-Multi-Omics – is an experiment designed to understand how microgravity affects the human immune system.
LEOPARDISS – is a technological project that demonstrates the operation of advanced data processing units, which will enable the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) solutions in space.
Volcanic Algae in Space – is a scientific experiment designed to test the ability of extremophile volcanic microalgae to survive and adapt in space conditions.
Wireless Acoustics – is an experiment focused on the development of a noise monitoring system for the International Space Station.
YEAST TARDIGRADEGENE – This experiment will test the survival of genetically modified yeast (rich in tardigrade protein) in microgravity
