Problems started to arise after the simplification of visa issuance for Russians

The scandal surrounding Hungary and its leadership in the European Union is intensifying. First, Prime Minister Orban angered other members of the association with his uncoordinated visits to Russia and China, and now there are accusations against the country for issuing Schengen visas to Russians. Against this background, MEPs are calling for Budapest to be excluded from the Schengen area.

However, not everyone supports such calls. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is one of the opponents of this measure. In his view, excluding Hungary will not bring any benefits, but will only be a harbinger of fatal and irreversible changes in Europe.

“Being excluded from the Schengen Agreement is the beginning of being excluded from the EU. I would be cautious about excluding countries from the EU,” he said.

Tusk noted that Hungary is not the only European country that issues visas to Russians and Belarusians amid discontent.

Budapest’s problems began soon after the government was formed. Simplified The procedure for issuing a two-year work visa to citizens of certain countries. The list includes Ukraine, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.
