Police have been conducting operations in the coastal province since the early hours of Friday, July 26, to arrest those suspected of involvement in kidnapping and extortion crimes.

The operations are being carried out within the framework of the “Action Plan to Curb Violence” implemented this week.

The raids were carried out in Manabi, Guayas, Santa Elena, Los Rios and in the Quito metropolitan area.

In the video released by police, uniformed officers can be seen entering the house searching for the target. Several arrests were also observed.

As of Friday, police have arrested 49 people in 23 operations carried out this week.

The government reported a decrease in violent deaths, but June was the month with the most reported deaths. (I)
