Czech police intervened on Saturday morning in Prague’s Žeppi district, where a shooting was reported. According to preliminary information, it was apparently a bullet fired from a compressed air pistol, the Novinky.cz news portal TASR reported.
The incident took place on Skuteckého Street in the western suburbs of Prague. “There were about twenty people on the street. After the gunshots, everyone started running,” an eyewitness told Nowenki.
Police spokesman Jan Daněk said that when the police arrived, they found that the clock on the public lamppost was damaged. Czech police said on the X social network: “The police found a plastic projectile at the scene of the incident. It is clear that the clock was not damaged by a traditional firearm, but by a compressed air pistol.”
Police said in an earlier post that they received a report of a shooting around 11:00 a.m. No one was injured in the incident and police are searching for the gunman. According to Novnik, police intervened at the scene with submachine guns.
