The Barbados Police Service has identified the victim of a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Welchs Road in Christchurch early today as 22-year-old Tishana Jamelia Ward, from her husband’s home in St James.
At around 12:15 p.m., emergency services received a report of a serious accident. Officers from the Oistins Police Department arrived at the scene and confirmed that the accident had caused a fatality.
The incident involved a motorcycle, driven by a male with Ward as the back seat, which collided with a Barbados Police Service vehicle on the sidewalk.
The male rider was injured and was immediately taken to Mount Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. The police officer in the police car was not injured.
The specific circumstances leading to the accident are still under investigation.
Authorities are appealing for anyone with information to come forward as they continue to investigate the matter.
