According to government records, on January 28, 2024, a woman contacted the Fagatogo Police Station (FPS) to report that a man had assaulted her through the glass door of their house in Fagatogo.
The police arrived at the scene of the accident but were stopped by the woman’s brother, Mr. Tino Tapua’ialupe, who has been charged in the case.
It was also reported that the accused had a strong smell of petrol and could not stand upright while in police custody.
In interviews with police and family members where the incident occurred, Christina Frananika explained that she was at their home but Tapua’ialupe went to talk to her. Frananika claimed that she and Tapua’ialupe had an affair due to a previous friendship and ordered the defendant to leave the house, but the man refused. Frank then called his cousin to tell him what happened. But this time, Frank knocked on the glass door of the house.
Tapua’ialupe was charged with three offences, including:
Count 1: Damage to Property, Case 2 is a Class “A” misdemeanor punishable by up to one (1) year in prison, or a $1,000 fine; or both.
Count 2: Trespass – a Class ‘B’ Misdemeanor, punishable by up to six (6) months imprisonment and a $500 fine; or both.
Count 3: Domestic Violence – a Class “C” Misdemeanor punishable by up to fifteen (15) days in jail or a $300 fine; or both.
The defendant will be released on $1,000 bail pending trial.

Government records state that at 6:24 pm on January 27, 2024, police officers on duty in front of Matafao Elementary School arrested the car heading to the east side of the island for speed.
Police used lidar to measure the speed of cars on the highway and recorded the speed of a car at 30 miles per hour on one section of the highway, which is the permitted speed limit of 20 miles per hour.
When the police stopped the defendant’s car and asked for his driver’s license, the man replied that he had forgotten his driver’s license at home and provided the police with another form of identification. While the police were reporting what happened due to the driver not having a driver’s license, the car door was opened and a man jumped out from behind the driver with an open can of beer in his hand.
The police advised Mr Simanu Tofa, who jumped out of the car with a can of beer, not to drink in the car while driving on the highway, but Tofa replied that he did not understand the law.
Tofa was then detained and taken to Tafuna Prison to await his court appearance.

Government records show that on June 21, 2024, three men, including a young man, reported the crime to Tafuna police station, which is believed to be a home in Fagema.
The mother told Naomi Oni that she called the police station and she was almost hit by the rocks thrown at her house by the men. Oni tried to ask the men to stop their behavior, however, the men cursed at him.
Police said that when the police arrived at Ouni’s house, the three people’s rituals were still going on near Ouni’s house, but they did not know where they were. But they ran away after seeing the police car and were chased by the police.
Police located a man and took him to TPS, identified him as a young man, then notified his parents. When the man’s ancestors arrived, police continued their investigation.
The young man explained that he was only a witness to the accident that killed some children in the village. However, a police officer pointed out that the young man’s testimony was dishonest because the police officer saw him participating in the destruction of the house with other men.
The young man changed his story and confirmed that he and his friends Tautau and Faaliga visited Oni’s home.
During the interview, a strong odor of alcohol was detected on the young man, but when asked if he had been drinking, the young man replied, “No.”
The young man was surveyed to determine whether he had been drinking alcohol, and the result of this survey was 0.053%.
The young man was released under the supervision of his parents.
Records show that two youths, Satunu Tautau and Edward Faaliga, broke into the family home in Fagaima and then fled before police arrived.
Faaliga and Tautau were both charged with causing a disturbance in a public place and are being held on $500 bail, awaiting trial.
