PM Modi: He was an active member of NCC and he is very proud of it

New Delhi: While addressing a National Cadet Corps (NCC) rally at the Cariappa Stadium in the capital on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was very proud that he had been an active member of the NCC.

While addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said, “I am proud that I am also an active member of NCC. Our government is taking several steps to strengthen NCC. A large number of women cadets participated in the rally and this is the change India is witnessing today.”

The Prime Minister highly appreciated the selflessness and dedication of the NCCs to the motherland and said, “In the past two years, more than one lakh NCC trainees have been recruited in the border areas.”

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister reviewed the Guard of Honour, reviewed the parade of the NCC delegation and also watched the NCC cadets display skills such as military operations, taxiing, ultralight aircraft flying, paragliding as well as cultural programmes.

The Prime Minister noted that women have been given more responsibilities in the country’s armed forces and also called for the inclusion of more women in the National Coordination Council.

While addressing the National Coordination Committee rally in Delhi, PM Modi further said, “We all need to connect with the roots of India. With your determination and support, we can change the future of India. Drug abuse has ruined the lives of young people and we need to fight it.”

After the NCC rally, the Prime Minister also presented medals and batons to the NCC candidates.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement on Thursday that the rally will mark the end of the NCC Republic Day camp, which is held on January 28 every year.

India celebrated its 73rd Republic Day on Wednesday, a year when it is celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsev’.
