Dr. Mark Chavez has agreed to plead guilty to crimes related to the distribution of ketamine that led to the death of beloved actor Matthew Perry. His medical license has been revoked.
Chavez has admitted to being an accomplice and was released on $50,000 (7 million Icelandic kronor) bail in a Los Angeles court.
Chavez is one of five people facing federal charges in connection with the October 2023 tragedy, in which Perry was found dead in a hot tub at her Los Angeles home with lethal levels of ketamine in her blood.
Three pleaded guilty, but two denied
Perry’s assistant and an acquaintance of his are also considered accomplices and have agreed to plead guilty.
Another doctor connected to the case, Salvador Plasencia, is accused of buying ketamine from Chavez and selling it to Perry at an unusually high price. Ketamine Queenis accused of selling Perry the drugs that led to his death.
Plasencia and Sangha have both pleaded not guilty and are scheduled to appear in court in October. They could face lengthy prison sentences.
