NBTC Chairman Advisor “Pachara Naripthaphan” encouraged “Noom-Kanchai Honkraeang”, arguing that it was an outdated resolution that sent a warning signal about the crisis in the television industry.

On May 28, Mr. Pachara Naripthaphan, Advisor to the Chairman of NBTC, expressed his views on the resolution proposed by the Content and Programming Subcommittee to NBTC to pass a ban on the flow of node programs. I personally think that the suspension of one day on June 17, 2024 on the grounds that the program content is “inappropriate and immoral” is different from the moral police considerations of the real world. This is an outdated resolution. And it sends a warning signal to the television industry.

NBTC President Advisor said: “P’Num Kanchai’s program is a live program that allows interested parties in conflict to discuss, mediate and end the conflict. I personally think this is beneficial to a society full of conflicts. It allows conflicts in various matters to be ended. It makes people understand their legal rights faster and makes them aware and think before taking any action. This type of program is seen a lot abroad, such as in the United States, there are civil court programs like Jerry Springer or Dr. Phil and Judge Judy, etc.”

Mr Phachara said he and Numkhamchai were both trained as conflict resolvers, with the goal of getting both parties to reduce conflict and understand each other. Part of that process is to vent your feelings. This can be characterized by words that reflect emotion on multiple levels, including expressing how you feel and expressing your true opinions. It’s all part of self-reflection. Being able to manage your thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

“Moral standards and checks should be limited to content that threatens the life of the show host or others, such as threatening physical harm to oneself or others. Or sending signals to cause conspiracy groups or cause social unrest. Venting with words or speech has common emotions and is used normally. For ordinary people, this is a normal thing. And it is part of the real world. There is no pink world or utopian world on TV. This is part of the social problem that causes society to suppress the television industry and become part of its crisis. Personally, I think that this view makes it difficult to create interesting content on television. Since the framework is set beyond social reality, this resolution truly shows the crisis of the television industry. And if such content is regulated, it will lead to the NBTC no longer being trusted by society.”

“As an advisor to the NBTC Chairman, I am a person of the new generation. His previous program was also terminated for the same reason. In the post-coup period, he served as a host of the Voice TV program on Channel 36. It was stopped from broadcasting during the Songkran Festival in 2015 for the same reason, namely, commenting on the following news: “It contains immoral content and violates the order of the National Police Agency. “It makes us fully understand the frustration of the working people and the need for the television industry to continue to play an important role in Thai society. Therefore, this resolution is an outdated resolution. And it sends a warning signal to the television industry. As mentioned above, he also conveyed his opinions to the Chairman of the NBTC.” Mr. Pachara emphasized.
