This year, the inhabitants of Earth not only enjoyed the summer starfall brought by the Perseid meteor shower, but also saw the Northern Lights. Last night, auroras were observed in northern latitudes around the world due to a strong geomagnetic storm. At the same time, the Perseid meteor shower reached its peak, with up to 120 meteors per hour, or one to two per minute burning up in the planet’s atmosphere. Many photographers managed to capture this event. Some lucky people were able to take unique photos of the summer starfall against the backdrop of the Northern Lights.

According to astronomers, the maximum activity of the Perseid meteor shower will last until August 20. The best time to observe the stream is in the late night and early morning, in the east direction, above the horizon. Who knows, maybe you will be lucky enough to take a photo of both astronomical phenomena.

In the meantime, enjoy the brightest photos of the Perseid meteor shower and auroras in the Rambler Gallery.
