The 2024 Salute to Belize Patriots will be held on September 12th at the foot of the Haulover Bridge. One of this year’s recipients is our veteran journalist Paul Mahung. The 74-year-old media veteran has been working in the industry since 1974 and continues to do so till today. A 74-year-old native of the town of Punta Gorda, Mahung has served in different capacities over the decades in different fields. In 1981, he served one term as Mayor of the town. He has also served as the first President of the Toledo Chapter of the Belize Red Cross, the Rotary Club and the Lions Club. Incidentally, this year, Mahung is celebrating his 50th anniversary in the media and 45th year as a volunteer in the Army. This will be his second time receiving this award as in 1988, he was awarded the Queen’s Award of an OBE for his services to education and community service. Love FM will broadcast the event live on Love FM and Love Television.
