Libreville, Wednesday, July 24, 2024 (Gabon News) – The Transitional President, General Brice Clotaire Origi Nguema, left Libreville this morning for Paris (France). He is expected to attend the official opening ceremony of the 33rd Olympic Games in the French capital on July 25, which the city will host from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
The head of state will go to the Olympic Village in the commune of Saint-Denis, on the outskirts of Paris, where he will offer moral comfort to the five Gabonese athletes who have been granted access to these competitions, as well as their supervisors. It was with this in mind that a working meeting was held last Tuesday between members of the Gabonese National Olympic Committee (CNOG) and members of the National Protocol.
“In this round table we have raised a question aimed at informing our collaborators at the head of state about the progress of this visit and which the athletes are waiting for with great enthusiasm”, said Crésant Pambo, President of the CNOG. On the same Tuesday evening, Samuel Minko, in his capacity as head of the delegation, gave interviews to the coaches and members of the medical team already in Paris.
They discussed issues of common interest, in particular the organization and preparations for the visit of the Gabonese head of state and the opening parade scheduled for Friday.
More than 206 countries, including Gabon, will participate in the Paris Olympics. On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, during a meeting with CNOG President Crésant Pambo, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema officially received the invitation to participate in this meeting.
