The Philippines did not have a smooth start in the Paris Paralympic Games as Para-archer Agustina Bandilok scored only 618 points in the Women’s Individual Compound Bow Open Ranking Event on Thursday, August 29, placing last among the 28 competitors.
The match was held at Les Invalides, a venue that showcases French military history. Bandilock scored a total of 313 points in the first half and 305 points in the second half.
However, this output was enough to earn her the best output of the season.
At 56, Bantiloc is the oldest representative from the Philippines and the first athlete to represent the country in the quadrennial disabled archery competition.
Kalinga, the pride of Tanudhan, was the flag bearer at the opening ceremony along with para-swimmer Ernie Gawilan, a former para-weightlifter who found her niche in para-archery.
