Hashnet:

Palestinians from the West Bank infiltrated into Israel on Monday after climbing over the separation barrier using ladders.

Israeli newspaper Maariv explained that a video clip of an infiltrator using a tall ladder to cross the separation wall into Israel was circulated on social media sites.

According to the newspaper, after the video went viral, police conducted a large-scale search operation in the city of Jerusalem, which resulted in the arrest of 54 Palestinians at a construction site, considering them to be there illegally.

This comes as Israeli authorities are anxious about the ease with which Palestinians are crossing the separation wall, which reminds them of the way the wall was breached on October 7.

Police said the detainees, aged in their twenties and thirties, were found in a construction site building on Tovar Street in the city, but did not clarify whether the detainees were the same people who appeared in the circulating video.

All the suspects were transferred to the city center police station for questioning. They will be brought to court later on Monday based on the findings of the investigation.

This is the second time in the past few days that a similar case has been discovered at a construction site, the newspaper reported, raising concerns about the recurrence of these incidents and the ongoing threat they pose to safety.

The statement also said police were investigating to understand how the actions were organised and to step up security measures to ensure such incidents do not happen again.

The Palestinian Authority announced earlier that Israel killed five people in a military operation in Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank on Friday, where the Israeli army said it was launching a “counter-terrorist operation.”

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that “the occupation forces’ aggression on Jenin has resulted in five deaths,” explaining that four of the dead were men aged between 20 and 30. The fifth victim was a 54-year-old man who was shot dead on the roof of his home, according to the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa).

10 deaths

Ten Palestinians were killed in the occupied West Bank in the past 48 hours, according to Palestinian Health Ministry data.

In addition, a child and a woman were killed when Israeli troops invaded the Tulkarm area in the northern West Bank on Monday.

Wafa news agency reported a march on Friday against the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, which has been occupied by Israel since 1967.

The agency noted that Israeli forces “attacked the city and besieged the house of citizen Ahmed Marwan Juma Ghur in the western part of the city” and “occupation forces vehicles then attacked the city from Haifa Street and Nazareth Street.”

“The occupation forces bombarded the besieged house with several energy shells and fired live ammunition into it. They used a megaphone to ask one of the young men to surrender and deployed snipers on the roof,” the report said.
