Phnom Penh: Authorities burned more than six tons of frozen meat after a car crushed it on the afternoon of August 12, 2024. While transporting the frozen meat, a traffic accident occurred at 9 pm on August 11, 2024 at Km K31+800 on the road in Moha Saing Commune, Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province.
Please note that at around 9pm on August 11, a truck with license plate number Phnom Penh 2BS-3550 carrying frozen meat from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville broke down at K31 on the highway, overturned and dumped the meat. +800 in Chrolong Thkov Village, Roleang Chek Commune, Samrong Tong District, Kampong Speu Province.
After the incident, the customs officers also requested the cooperation of the traffic police stationed on the highway, and suggested that the frozen meat stored on the truck be transported to another truck. The Customs and Taxation Bureau of Kampong Speu Province followed the procedures.
On August 12, 2024, KPR branch investigators from Kampong Speu province worked with customs and tax officials from Kampong Speu province, as well as local authorities and the Phnom Sruoch district chief to inspect the cargo inside a Jiangling car. The personnel then checked the following items, including: frozen fish roe, meatballs, chicken meatballs, Shenglong meatballs, stuffed chicken, starch chicken, blood duck, tripe, salmon fins, pig tails, chicken, beef, beef kidneys, pig intestines and ribs. The total weight of the 438 live pigs was 6 tons and 199 kg.
As a result, our officials found that the batch of goods did not have quality certification from the importing and exporting countries, and the packaging, transportation and source of the goods were not clear. The owner of the goods ran away and refused to come in to solve the problem.
For all commodities, professional officials and relevant departments carried out the incineration according to procedures to avoid harming the health of consumers.
