EgyptIn principle, there are only four parliamentary groups in the Bureau of the Flemish Parliament, which is responsible for the day-to-day management of the institution.

Of the eight positions to be filled, three will be held by N-VA and the other three by Vlaams Belang. Vooruit and CD&V will be given the mandate. Open Vld, PVDA (PTB) and Groen will therefore not be sitting there.

These three groups should be in opposition in the next legislative session, but on the other hand they will be fully represented in the expanded presidium responsible for the political work of the parliament.

The assignments are determined based on the election results through a system of assignments called D’Hondt key.

The inauguration ceremony of the new Flemish Parliament is scheduled for July 2. The new deputies will then be sworn in by the interim president. As in 2019, this role will be held by Filip Dewinter (Vlaams Belang), the most senior elected official in the Flemish parliament. He will be surrounded by the two youngest MPs: Amina Vandenheuvel (22, PVDA) and Mercina Claesen (22, Vlaams Belang).
