Open-air cinema: movie and food fun in Zagreb

Now, film and food lovers can enjoy spiritual and worldly delights in one place. The Coca-Cola Food Film Festival in the Croatian capital Zagreb is more entertaining in nature and is aimed at a general audience, but even the more discerning audience is sure to find something for themselves among timeless film classics and modern hits. At the festival, which runs from August 29 to September 7, you can watch hit films from the 1940s onwards. Even the youngest children will find their money’s worth, their screenings will start at 7:15 pm. This Saturday, they will be able to watch one of the most popular Disney cartoons, Ratatouille. The children’s program will be dubbed in Croatian, while the rest of the films will be shown in English with Croatian subtitles.

Besides offering movies and good food, the location is also attractive: the cinema is located outdoors.

Visitors can also enjoy food from around the world, such as baozi and tacos, as well as local Croatian specialties, such as Šibenik cicvarda. Several well-known Croatian chefs will be in charge of the kitchen, including chef Dougie Pisakowner of the popular Chevap bar, which became very popular in Croatia in a short period of time, and chef Dino Bebic Hailing from Šibenik, it serves traditional Croatian dishes in a new way.

Weather and temperature permitting, the festival will be open from 18:00 daily and from 14:00 on weekends. The screenings will start at 8:30 pm, and later on weekends, after the cartoons. The sound of the films will be played through headphones that can be rented, and the organizers also rent blankets for lying on.
