Ontario man accused of threatening woman and police

A 69-year-old Bowmanville, Ont., man allegedly made death threats against a woman and tried to threaten police with a knife earlier this week.


Durham Regional Police said it responded to the area of ​​Bowmanville and Hartwell avenues around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say a man was harassing and threatening a woman. When police arrived at the scene, they found the suspect and said he pulled out a knife and began threatening responding officers.

Police said they were able to de-escalate the situation and arrest the suspect without incident. Police did not say if anyone was injured.

Miguel Palacios-Fierman of Bowmanville faces multiple charges, including two counts of uttering death threats and assault with a weapon. Those charges have not yet been heard in court.

Police ask anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
